The quilt below and it’s description might be triggering for some as it is about suicide. There are a couple of quilts from Quilt Festival that I’m sharing on their own, this one is one of them. I give you the trigger warning as this is a tough quilt to look at and suspect this… Continue reading Quilt Festival Quilts Part 1

Catherine’s Pin Cushion from Collector with a Needle

This is Catherine’s pin cushion from c.1855.

Her quilt, Catherine’s Garden is one of many quilts we’ve patterned and reproduced. Whenever I buy a quilt I try to gather as much as I can about the original maker - it’s special to have Catherine’s pin cushion.  My Catherine’s Garden reproduction quilt was chosen as the International Quilt Festival 2022 Signature quilt.  Quite wonderful! The pattern includes all of the hand quilting lines from the original.  I used them in my reproduction.

To celebrate, we have reduced the price of our digital pattern for our ...

What An Honor from Collector with a Needle

 What an HONOR!

Friday was a wild day - the kind that takes your breath away!
I had an email from International Quilt Festival.
I quickly opened it hoping all was well with the quilts for my exhibit.
The quilts were all been shipped to Houston from all over the US & Canada in June.

It was an email advising me my Catherine's Garden quilt was chosen
as the 2022 Signature Quilt!

Wow!

We exchanged contracts and it was announced in a matter of a few hours!
Did I say Wow?

I wasn't even aware that was a possibility - I ...

As you know I love thread, how it holds things together and how it dances over the surface of a quilt. Sometimes… Continue reading Thread of the Week

Well this is quite the week! Click Here. from Terificreations's Weblog

Normally on a Tuesday like this I’d be in the shower already getting ready to go teach the Advanced Beginner Class at Poppy Quilt & Sew and going to book study at my parish tonight. Instead I’m at my kitchen counter staying home with what is allergy related sinus thing (no temp, not achy). We’ve… Continue reading Well this is quite the week! Click Here.

International Quilt Festival, Houston from Essie's Quilts

Last week we were at International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX. It is the big show that we look forward to every year. (Except last year (2020)). But nothing could keep us back this year! We love connecting with old friends, making new friends, and introducing new products to help quilters finish more quilts. This year was no exception. Attendees were so glad to be at a show, to see quilts, shop, and take classes that they happily followed all safety measures in place.

I’m on my way to International Quilt Festival from Terificreations's Weblog

Riding shotgun is the Quilter on Fire Brandy Maslowski. She’ll be interviewing at International Quilt Festival. While we’re staying together I don’t think we’ll see a lot of each other. I’m even more excited that I’ll get to introduce Brandy to Annie Smith, the original quilting podcaster and Tracy Mooney of Quilt N Tell. I… Continue reading I’m on my way to International Quilt Festival

Sarah’s Machine Quilting Forum II video–ends Dec. 12 from Art and Quilting in Camden

Now Registered participants ONLY can SEE it … CLEARLY!

If you were enrolled in the Virtual Quilt Festival’s second Machine Quilting Forum on Saturday, you know there were serious transmission issues with my presentation that made the video just yucky. TOTAL BUMMERS, but now TOTAL JOY! Thanks to the hard working folks in the Education Department (who should have been taking today off) you can SEE the video through December 12th. After that, like Cinderella’s pumpkin, it disappears. To access it, follow the following steps:

Registered participants ONLY can follow these instructions –

Teaching at Virtual Quilt Festival, the IQF answer to COVID!!!! from Art and Quilting in Camden

I’ll be one of the five panelists in the Machine Quilting Forum on Saturday, December 5. You can still sign up! Here’s a link to the “Saturday” page. If we weren’t able to go to Houston this year, this is a spiffy alternative! There is a link at the top of the page to enroll. The price for forums, lectures and classes is astonishingly reasonable…. I’ve signed up to be a student too!

I do believe Quilts Inc, the folks that bring you the International Quilt Festival every year (except this one due to COVID) have ...

Busy during Lockdown! from Art and Quilting in Camden

I’ll be teaching at the Mancuso quilt shows later this year and next! They asked teachers to do a brief 1-minute video. To no one’s surprise, my first attempt ran long…at least it was only 3 minutes and not 10 LOL! But I decided to upload the longer version here. I hope you’ll enjoy this peek at what I’ve been doing and maybe take a workshop with me at one of the Mancuso shows–I’ll be in Massachusetts in August of 2020–or at International Quilt Festival Houston in Fall.
